Physique and Demeanor: Robael Locule may not in fact be a young man, but neither is he weak in this age either; though not the specimen he once was, his age adds what seems to be a sophistication and distinguished appeal while not implying frailty. Standing rather tall at a height of six feet and four inches, Robael has been given the proper stature for leadership, with defined shoulders and comfortable fitness of form. This form, pictured on a well able man in the military, or a well-loved politician, lends the cryptic and shadowy Robael a twisted eloquence, and a dark charisma. His face is lean, and while showing the thinning of age, it remains rather undefiled of wrinkles or spotting, and holds his calm expressions well. Moving up his sculpted features one can gaze into two hazel eyes that seem to almost glow with fire’s light; however, upon his head sits a symmetric short cut of hair that stretches down into a fair goatee, with which exhibits a white pure as snowfall. Robael may appear travelled, but he maintains a certain allure respectable by those who can come to terms with his age. Robael’s skin itself is a pale color, not greatly so, but the shade of one who has not spent an abundance of time set in the sun; in addition, upon his hands there are signs of roughness, and scars of both common as well as sharp appearance. No scars appear to mar his face however, nor detract from his ability to speak. Alongside this notion, despite his notable height, Robael has a tendency for losing people’s eyesight both intentionally and unintentionally, knowing both when to move, and sometimes, being able to do so without the thought being present; his movements are rather quiet, especially so for the clothing that he wears, moving with them in a way that disperses his audiability. Skillset: Education and Intelligence – Overview [Average]: While possessing a strong mind capable of withstanding a great deal, Robael has little in the way of formal education. Consisting of only the life lessons, training, and experience his life has provided him, Robael has a broad set of skills that made him entirely self sufficient throughout his years. Even into his old age, Robael has a way of ensuring he won’t be a burden more so than any other common soul in his endeavors.
Cunning and Wisdom – Overview [Adept/Mastery]: Robael is one blessed with an exceptionally keen mind, naturally having a great ability to reason and understand. These powers were tested and pushed by his natural association with Nazu which gave him potent bouts of lunacy and nightmare; he would learn to control these however, and it would further hone his great mental ability. Learning to survive was aided by his great ability, and more so, he was able to further test and try his understanding. It is easy perhaps to say that Robael’s knowing, understanding, and wisdom transcends that of most mortals.
Physical Survivability/Combat Ability – Overview [Average]: Robael was once a man of notable combat prowess, while not quite anything of heroic proportions, he had survived a great many scrapes and tussles that would’ve ended lesser fighters. However, age has sapped Robael of his abilities and reflexes which he once had, now he simply must deal with his lesser physical abilities, while his training and knowing remains sharp as they had been. Robael can still defend himself quite well against a group of muggers, or a wild animal, but will find himself unable to take more than one mercenary, or beast of moderate ferociousness.
Arcane/Mystical Abilities – Overview [Poor]: Robael has always had a sense for when magic was in play, in addition to an ability to understand the theories behind magic. However, Robael does not have great enough ability with magic that it was ever practical to consider honing in him.
Survival Ability – Overview [Average/Adept]: Robael has always prided himself in his ability to make do with what he has, and come out on top. Having faced perhaps innumerable situations in his past where complaining wasn’t an option, he chose to do instead of die, and it shows in his ability to persist in the world of Aeria. Combat Archetypes, Stratagems, and Acumen: -Combat Fundamentals: Robael is a man who has earned various lumps in his life, and has been able to shrug some of them off through the ways of combat. When in the fray, Robael takes the aim of a lean, lethal predator; he will wait, holding his blows and stamina within himself, and find the precise moment with which to strike. Robael takes pride in having mastered fundamental building blocks of combat that allow him to plan and adapt to the fight he is presented with. Between knowing himself, and knowing his opponent, he believes to have an edge that will give him the victory he so desires; it perhaps goes without saying that he values strategy over all else in combat. When Robael was younger, he was a limber, fairly fit man, whereas his old age has deteriorated this; however, his ideals have not changed, and he believes that despite physical conditioning, that weapons exist to even out the difference between physique and victory. While not very fit in his old age, he places his faith in his weapons to level the playing field enough for him to survive.

Dual Weapons: Daggers – When assuming this fighting style, it is a sure sign that Robael means serious action; taking two small blades in his hands, one arm back and the other extended, he has readied himself for battle. From here, in a slightly lowered stance, Robael is ready to attack; keeping one weapon close to the enemy, prompting and perhaps teasing them with the extended arm, he draws their attention away from the arm reeled back, ready to strike like a wild python. Nimble and quick as he once was, while he may not be as much so, he is still quite able to evade the attacks of his foes, and plot devious stabs and thrusts with his weapons, slicing and thrashing away at them reeling one arm back and then the other after striking. Robael can keep himself in the fray for quite a while, and when going against more seasoned fighters than himself, he will attempt to eliminate them through disarming and or disabling their ability to attack, knowing greatly how to grapple in knife combat, and strike for the limbs as well as the vitals.
Single Weapon: Cudgel/Mace - In addition to his work with daggers, Robael also has tamed the used of clubs, cudgels, maces, and similar blunt weapons; he knows how to handle the recoil of his blunt-work, knowing how to handle the recoil and channel it into more force that he can use. His once more nimble and more muscled arms still do the job, swinging the mace and cudgel swiftly, and working well with the cumbersome nature of the weapon. Knowing how to swipe a foe to disarm, disable, knock out, and strike critically; Robael holds true to the roguish use of the cudgel. Robael has also learned how to use this weapon well from a sleuthing position or from a quick sprint.
Single Weapon: Sword: Having spent a great deal of time in the seedy areas of cities and towns, as well as bad crowds, it’s perhaps not too surprising that Robael knows how to use a sword. While not an impressive sword spinner, Robael knows how to hold one, and how to strike and how to defend. Robael seems to fight at a quick pace with a sword, relying on swifter, rapier-like (if not rapiers themselves) blades to strike at his foes in a flash. While perhaps not the best way to counter foes of greater ability than he is, he works to overwhelm and defeat them in quick a fashion as possible.
General: Reloading – In addition to his time around swords being developed from his time in bad situations, similarly has his experience with guns and ranged weaponry. Never possessing a great deal of money, but sometimes spoils, he has been trained to reload the Matchlock firing mechanism to a level of amateur competency. He similarly has found himself quite able to use a sling as well, relying only on stones to injure and or disable his enemies. He’s had well enough experience using Light and Heavy crossbows, launching bolts to maim and or kill foes at a distance and or in heavier armor. When needing the maximum amount of distance and silence, he’s able to use simple, lower draw-strength bows to maim his target from a distance. -Notable Stratagems and Techniques- Spoiler:
Sneaking: In addition to his natural affinity for losing the attention of others, Robael also has both the knowledge and a great deal of practice in remaining undetected. He knows how to keep noise to a minimum through footwork, landing, attire, and placement of self. Similarly, he is keen to where people will look in haste; where they will, and where they will not, notice something amiss.
Dexterity and Free Running: Robael is not the man he once was, lessening of muscle mass with age turning the pages of history; however, he is still a plyable man capable of acts of fitness surprising for his age. His athletic healthiness may have lessened, but he has not enough to be considered slow or weak-lunged. He retains his ability to move quickly, as well as for an above-average period of time; in addition to knowing how to handle obstacles that he might encounter, and how to scale moderate inconveniences. Such obstructions would include wagons, walls whose summits can be grasped by his hands, heavy inclines, shimmy ledges, as well as suspended narrow walkways.
Advanced Humanoid Vitals and Musculature Knowledge: There is great fascination in the workings of the human body, in all its various processes; however, the fascination takes on another meaning for Locule in his knowing of the physical form of men. It is unknown just where he acquired this knowledge, however, he is quite able to pinpoint various muscles, tendons, and strike at them easily. He’s one more than one barfight by punching a man’s diaphragm in such a way that he’s been unable to breathe.
Dirty Fighting and Beastial Pathology: A hunter knows the mind of pray, and so Locule knows the instinctual actions of animals, including those of men who run purely on instinct and reaction, exploiting and condemning them for it. Robael manipulates the minds of his enemies, softening them for his actions thereof. Robael Locule is also able to differentiate between the necessity of victory and the necessity of honor; the latter being a… lesser …thought, Robael is unafraid to use any possible angle he can to assure victory.
Biography: - Spoiler:
Most infants are born into a loving, and caring home, with fawning parental figures who will remain in the youngling's life for as long as they can do so; Robael Locule did not have a home like this in his youth. Shortly after birth, the midwife marked him with strange happenings, branding him as possibly mentally ill, or disturbed in some way. This was not a fallacy, for indeed, Robael Locule was noted for being what he was, a new born whom had had contact with the broken goddess, Nazu, before his birth.
His parents, of meager excess and short of temper, sought to wash their hands of this foulness, and decided to turn their offspring unto a distant unsuspecting relative before disappearing all together. This would be the home that Robael would grow up in, and this relative would far from provide the home for which he needed. The woman was incompassionate, rash, cruel, loud, and unrelenting. Needless to say that Robael's disfunction put him at odds with the woman; when either expressing his ailments of both dilusions and fractured perception, she would merely reply with pain. It would be only eight years before Robael left this place.
He would wander from this place for some time, one foot before the other, and eventually he would come to the prestigious city of Leyanara, recently released from its isolationist state. Times would not improve greatly for the young man, as he would have to struggle to survive among the most desperate of the people in his city, while being only a distraught young boy. The only way he could eek out a suitable living was through the practice of thievery, which would sustain him for a handful of years.
One evening, after casing a rather princely little residence along a wealthy road, Robael would intersect another strange man wearing concealing garb similar to himself, and moving in the opposite direction. They would pass, and it would seem naught would go amiss. However, Robael would soon walk headlong into a contingent of guards, who charged him dearly for two thieveries, and while having spoils from none; including the residence that he actually did pilfer.
In a quick dash for his life when the guards weren't looking, he was able to escape their brigade, but would soon break away from the city in the direction of the man's jaunting. The charges against him were high for two stealings, so he knew there was no way that the man intended to say in the city. His intuition was hither to rewarded, and would meet upon the road with the man. In this fated meeting, he found a man whom did not mock him for his oddments; but rather, in fact, praised them. The man with confident eyes gave a nod, and to them they would begin a long standing relationship.
This would be Robael's induction to the wargs, straight from the guild master, and it would be Robael who stood with the guildmaster when he claimed the Tower of Nazu and united the guild as what it would be from then on; a more potent, more powerful, and more driven guild of footpads and thieves. Robael would thrive in this place, accepted and guided, he would become an accomplished thief, mugger, and pilferer.
The years would turn and time would make Robael strong, and it was at this time that the prior holder of the Tower of Nazu became to succumb to himself. Stagnated through lack of ability to live and writhe in the chaos blessed by the tower, and tormented more so by it, Robael saw the prior guildmaster now as a liability. Robael simply takes charge of the guild in the face of the guildmaster's inability, and gains mutual renown throughout the guild for not only sustaining their livelihood, but improving their efficiency and renown greatly.
In time the guilld master would sink into a pitiful state of shambling consciousness; it is in this state, that Robael would put his master to peace. Holding the Tower of Nazu in hand, the guild master would ramble, would rant, would speak incoherantly even for Robael. However, Robael in his wisdom and connection; he convinced the leader that to embrace the plaguing terror and accept it would be to remove the terror. The guildmaster would sunder himself with the dagger, and the vacancy would be immediately filled by Robael himself.
Expanding even more so than before, with his word as more unapposed; he establishes the Wargs as an international entity, more than a renown faction of sleuths. He established the far fences, set in stone their hidden routes, and established their official safehouses. So has the guild grown around him; as for the past fourteen years, he has held dominion.
Now, for reasons not entirely certain... Robael has set his sights away from the home of the Wargs, and to the city of Surna. Surna has long been an object of admiration for him and the wargs who share the way of Chaos. This sacred city of the Wargs must hold more than simply atmosphere and humbling nature to incite Robael to choose to situate himself here, personally, as an active participant in the events within the city.
For wealth, or fame, or for the sake of Chaos; Robael Locule has arrived in Surna.

-Robael Locule was orphaned by his parents when he showed odd signs during infancy. -Robael was left in the care of a cruel, mean, old woman. -Robael left his adolescent home behind one evening while he was eight years old. -Robael found himself in a cold Sanctimonia, young, and just coming out of stages of isolation. -Robael struggled for subsistence in the cold mountain city of Leyanara -Robael, turning to a life of thievery, intersected a Warg member one night during a heist. -Robael, after almost being condemned for the man’s thievery, and his own, he escapes, and finds the Warg again. -Robael is inducted into the Wargs, shortly before the appearance of the tower of Nazu. -Robael, finding solace in his place of comfort with the Wargs, settles into life there. -Nearly a decade and a half later, the holder of the Tower of Nazu, seems unfit in Robael’s eyes. -Robael transforms the guild from a ragtag den of ne’er-do-wells into a true group, and solidified its standing. -The prior man loses himself to the dagger’s impulses, and in his useless state as guild leader, Robael convinces the broken man to kill himself with the dagger, and names himself leader. His succession is undisputed. -Robael has helmed the Wargs for the past fourteen years, and travels now to Surna, for mysterious reasons.

The World Weeper – What may seem like a maniacal, somewhat schizophrenic old man may in fact be so, but little to the knowledge of those around him, does he hold the hand of a god. The sundered goddess Nazu, tortured and bound by her study of the infinite chaos outside the Crystal Sphere, those limitless Chaos Gods who exist beyond time, which have burned her forever, driving her beyond the linearity and across the stretches of space and time; those who connect with this god are the ones who are born with different forms of insanity, due to her inability to coexist and interact with this world, as Nazu is constantly harassed by all possible times and places. Within Robael’s possession is the tower of Nazu, drawn forth by the Wargs, and held by him as their leader. This drives him closer to Nazu than any other mortal, giving him the ability to taste more of her madness, and more of her sight. Only someone with a truly strong will and mind, like Robael, can even stand in the presence of the dagger when not in one’s grasp, and Robael is one of the few who can hold it. The Tower of the God is attracted to him, and will do its best to stay at his side, as though Nazu may not be able to interact with Aeria, her power present in this world will coalesce around agents thereof, and vice versa. The Dagger has the power to strike with the power of Nazu’s madness. The worse the cut, the more the blow to one’s sanity; a light cut may only spell truly terrible nightmares for a week, but they will pass; a light stab may result in a slight loss of lucidity; however, major wounds will result in more serious damage, as will cumulative attacks, and a full impale with the dagger will shatter one’s soul as Nazu’s was shattered, perhaps sending to exist the only place it can, outside the Crystal Sphere in the presence of the chaos gods. It is the physical manifestation of a Goddess within Aeria, as such, it would take incredible power to destroy, and will likely never suffer degradation through use. It will nullify all spells placed upon it, it will not break or bend, it will remain sharp, and it also will rebuke any and all forms of anti-magic against its powers. However the item may resist magic and its effects, its small size makes it ineffective to try and defend with. - Spoiler:
Smacker – This simple cudgel fashioned of a wooden handle with a smooth Vyrium head proves to be a dangerous item for Locule to be holding whilst standing behind someone unsuspecting. Such a person often lives, but with a good amount less gold, or keys. - Spoiler:
Stabbers – Common daggers fashioned of Vynon which Robael Locule uses for defending himself… and his interests. - Spoiler:
Grabbers – Common balanced throwing daggers fashioned of a light steel that he slings into foes when placed at a distance. - Spoiler:
Covers. Well made robes worn by Robael Locule, fashioned of a dark color, and fastened so that they do not create noise such that it is overly noticeable. The hood is well made, if stiff, but is difficult to remove from his head without directly attempting so. Cracker A simple leather sling used for pelting a target with stones. Keeper: A simple utility belt used by Robael to sling pouches and equipment from.

2-27-13 Transgressor: Kill a player character with direct association to a Divine Entity. Anti-Hero: Kill a player character whom was of the revered Heroes of Surna relating to the Fall of Shar's tower. Surpass: Kill a player character whom has existed since the early days of The Age of Heroes. Destroyer: Kill a player character with the Tower of Nazu. Their soul has been totally shattered. Despair: The Tower of Nazu has prevented a victim of it's blade from being returned to life. Blood-Money: Make 10,000 Shillings from a single transaction, based upon illegal activity. The Broken Bulwark: Survive an open-combat encounter with Stom Razel. Escapist: Escape the scene of an assassination you've performed, and all pursuit.
3-1-13 Manipulator: Deceive an enemy into performing as you wish him to do. Solus-Ward: Break into the Crypts of Surna. Living Shadow: Sneak into a fortified, patrolled structure, and emerge without drawing any alarm.
Some time before 4-26-13: Shadeflayer: Slaughter at least ten shades single handed. While those may hear this and think you a bringer of light, you have done this by being a bringer of even greater darkness than they. Old Friends: Re-encounter the company of Vorn Tyrr. Dialogue of the Dastardly Doers: Speak openly on the innermost workings of the Wargs with at least one other whom is not a member. Assassin of the Nightblades: Defeat a Nightblade of the Daefar in combat. Master of the Shadowed Path: Defeat Vorn Tyrr in combat, or draw him to teleport away. Source of Shattered Ethereal: Find an anomaly resonating with the loathsome chaos of Nazu.

Beyond Imagination: Bring the power of a Chaos god to bear against a sphere of living Dorifium, a thing more powerful thant he sun. There are no I-s in Creed: To better serve your dark ends, result to actions that most would view... outrageous. There are no Eyes in Creed: You cut out your fucking eyes; the only things you will see from now on are your own visions and the terrors that stalk your mind. Legendary: Defeat Vorn Tyrr twice. Shame on him. Master Assassin: Defeat Daefar Nightblades or similar Assassins or Rogues in their own game. Transgression: Begin something truly foul and loathsome.

You do need to read everything. Blindly accepting a character app because of the player who wrote it and not its contents is poor form, as well as disrespectful to the rest of the community. That being said, for a wizened warrior and guild leader in his late fifties, I don't see anything wrong with this character and his abilities. And I do trust Dom to roleplay him well. My accept. Though I do wonder if this character with his resources should be made a Special character. | |
