Vahagn Manukyan The Old Man with the Metal Face
Spoiler:
Vahagn Manukyan would be a legend among the people of the colonies - if anyone remained to remember his deeds. A living revenant, the veteran of more wars than any single man should be subjected to, he traverses the colonies in search of some meaning, some reason to keep living. Whether he'll ever find it, he doesn't know.
Vahagn Manukyan has been a staple of the colonies for more than a hundred years. When he arrived, driven from the mainland by the ghosts of his past, the first of the colonies was only on the cusp of it's foundation. Since then, Vahagn has traversed the wastes alone, a hermit, recluse, and frequent womanizer. More than once he's fallen into a drug-induced stupor, falling prey to the Opium dens of Xīn Shǒuyè or Calamity in New Sanctimonia. It was in his most recent bend that he found himself entangled in the affairs of the Vampiress and itinerant mapmaker Seyrici Cee.
The veteran of two major wars, Vahagn is a fearsome warrior. Born among the Dver, he eventually became a member of their elite Citizen Militia, and thus trained with an array of arms, both arcane and mundane. He had his left eye removed and replaced with an example of Dver arcana; his left arm had similar arcana grafted to the skin. Certain major organs have been removed or supplemented by Dver arcane craftsmanship, as well. As a result, Vahagn can draw upon an enhanced vitality and an array of arcane abilities to modify his own abilities in combat.
Vahagn fought alongside the Ha'dri, Sanctimonians and others against the Empire of Marcus Olm in the Second God War, and then again in the north against the Blight. He took up arms again as a free agent of the paramilitary group 'Barton's Watch' during the chaos of the Sanctimonian Civil War. Seeking to help a people sandwiched between a tyrannical King and grasping revolutionaries, Vahagn met the love of his life and lost her just as quickly to the war. Abandoning the mainland in despair and disgust, he left everything behind for the life of a recluse in the colonies.
Vahagn has refined his skills over the years, adapting to the changes in military technology as they come. More than once Vahagn has found reason to pick up his weapon, either in self defense or in defense of whatever cause may fleetingly catch his attention and his passions. Currently, he travels with a gang of misfits, outlaws and bandits who have taken it on themselves to pursue the infamous 'Tower on the Edge' - a mythical spire on the very edge of the world rumored to hold unimaginable treasures.
Vahagn has little lust for the treasure, but he does have a kindling of hope - his last hope - that perhaps he might find something worth living for in this fool's chase to the edge of the world.
