Combat and Strength
As a self-proclaimed master of necromancy, Augustus knows how to manipulate the dead or dying rather well. Though his other skills of magic are only the thoughts stolen from his former teacher, he has expanded on them while stranded in the Fields of Strife so that he may survive against its natives. However, his strength is of no matched compared to that of the medieval knights that still wonder Aeria despite the changing times.

Agility and Stamina
For nearly twenty years Augustus has always needed to be on the run against the natives of the Fields of Strife so that he may live just to the next day. With that constant alertness, Augustus' senses have improved and adapted to the deadly environment of the Fields of Strife.

Speech
Augustus rarely speaks to most people without first being spoken to himself, but the Fields of Strife changed him in ways Aeria never could. His voice was rarely used out of fear of alerting the undead to him, but he often conversed with himself through his mind.

Necromancy
Student to the most well taught people on necromancy and second to only the Archivist's of Light, Augustus grew up in the death trap city of Rashid where he would be first exposed to necromancy. From that point on he grew to appreciate it, if not for his parents, for power in Shah Sulaiman Perish IX's court. Branded a two star student in the Arcaneum, Augustus expanded upon his teachings unrestrained.

Vitamancy
Taught to him side by side necromancy, Augustus' skills of "healing" rival the opposite field of manipulating death. To know vitamancy, Augustus has practically memorized the many life forms anatomy so that he may successfully operate on them without something going completely wrong.

Illusion
Augustus' hobby was to use illusion magic when he wasn't studying vitamancy or necromancy. He often trained with his former teacher, Sarah, but vast amounts of his knowledge comes from the multi-spell tattoo that is against his back and upper arms.

Other Magics
Though he has trained in the Arcaneum for years, Augustus thought little on many other fields of magic. This doesn't go without saying that he is quite experienced in the basics of other fields by being granted knowledge from unknown outlets and his own time studying and practicing.

Augustus Gabriel Holmes was born to a minor noble household that barely had any worthwhile holdings in the province of Rashid. As a noble house in Rashid and in Maalik, it was mandatory to have the understanding of magic and be considered at least an adept in some field. His family, much like any noble in Rashid, was experienced in the field of necromancy because of the large crypts that lay just a few dozen feet below the city's streets. Though this practice was kept a more or less secret to outsiders, necromancy was in high practice and highly sought after in the courts of Shah Sulaiman Perish IX, who ruled over Rashid before its change in leader years later.

Since necromancy was this means to escape death as well as a way to achieve rank in Rashid, Augustus' parents pushed and persuaded the young mage to follow their dream and raise the standing of the Holmes family to that of the Shah's nobles. This was, of course, hopeful thinking on Augustus' parents part, yet his time in Rashid was coming to an end despite his young age. Augustus was soon to be picked to join the Arcaneum and learn the fundamentals of magic.

The Arcaneum, as it stood before the hostile takeover of Maalik, was an independent college that operated with its own set of rules separated from the societal norms of the rest of the world. Much like the Archivist's of Light, the Arcaneum trained many students like Augustus in any field they sought to explore. Augustus was brought in as a two-star student because of his informal teachings from his parents and other mages around Rashid. Since the three-star category was locked for plain touched beings only, Augustus could not experience all that the college had to offer for a young, impressionable child he was.

The Arcaneum didn't restrict any knowledge of magics to the students it taught, which Augustus took high advantage of despite majoring in necromancy and vitamancy. Casting illusions soon came a close hobby of the young teen as he progressed through his time, his classes, and his teachers that could barely keep up with him. More and more knowledge is all that Augustus sought even when he was in desperate need for sleep and other mortal necessities that fueled his body so that he could learn more effectively. Such a lust for knowledge came at a price for his young age when he became to be increasingly hostile to anyone around him who tried to pry him away from his studies. The teachers, as well as his friends, in the Arcaneum worried deeply for Augustus, but this issue was something they could not stop.

Not much could be done for Augustus and his desire, so most left him despite their worries. Something far beyond started to peer into the happenings of Augustus from the shadows, but Augustus thought nothing more of the thoughts being implanted into his mind, as it could be nothing more than his regular hallucinations sprouting from his lack of sleep and slight malnourishment. Thus, Augustus' studies went on relatively undisturbed besides the occasional hallucination and dark thoughts. Augustus graduated to the final stretch of his Arcaneum career at the age of seventeen and long since was separated from the other students to properly train with a personal teacher who also came from Rashid.

Augustus, now a young adult, thought of his life outside of the Arcaneum, what he would do, and where he would venture next. These thoughts, not differing much from his thoughts before, scared him because he knew that there were few places he could be a necromancer. Though returning to Rashid and achieving real rank in the courts of the Shah was enticing, Augustus carried on his desire to learn more and not settle down prematurely. His teacher, Sarah Valencia, seconded him on this with the reassurance of their new relationship that began to border a romantic / work fascination with each other. Augustus' demons that he could never overcome would prove that he could not hold this kind of relationship despite his personal feelings.

When studying the effects of illusion on wildlife in the thick jungles of Sarkun, disturbances throughout the air and the magic field around Augustus and Sarah began to appear like nothing they ever imagined or heard of before. Just as soon as they thought of what it could be, the emergence of an opening through reality tore itself apart to reveal a new plane. Augustus didn't see it as such and even when horrible monsters threatened to slash at him with weapons some one could only dream about, Augustus marched inside the opening without a second thought. His obsession.. their obsession.. would bring Sarah to follow him blindly.

The Fields of Strife, as they were referred to in some tomes both Augustus and Sarah read, was a hell hold for constant battles that raged on night and day between armies that were just reformed in hours to continue the fighting. The battles in the distance were heard for miles around by the two even as they strayed far from these sounds. Each time they thought they got away from one battle, they just found another just a few miles in another direction. Everything just stopped for the two in their pursuit for more knowledge with every passing step they took into the relatively unexplored plane. They thought nothing of returning to Aeria.. or even if they could at this point.

The opening closed soon after they entered without them knowing, or caring, much about it. Their time in the Fields of Strife became longer and longer, but they found more and more battle forged items of unknown origin inside the realm. For days carried on without stopping as if they were being driven and directed by someone.. or something. The hallucinations grew more dominant in Augustus' mind, nearly appearing every "day" for him. Sarah soon questioned his sanity, but Augustus simply shrugged it off as he had for years.

Days became weeks in the Fields of Strife before Augustus' demons finally approached him without disappearing by a swipe of his hand. It whispered to him, implanting lies and secrets of Sarah in his mind before it devised a proposal for Augustus' safe return to Aeria. Though Augustus didn't agree at first, it only took another three weeks before he agreed to the beings terms. This being was like all those whom he had read about before, the demons who trick mortals. Augustus was tricked for salvation at a cost too great for him.

One year later, Augustus escaped the Fields of Strife alone. Augustus returned to Rashid to find it in the hands of the Impo'si Empire and his house destroyed, his family gone. The young scholar headed north to continue his and Sarah's quest for knowledge.

I'm going to pass on voting for special characters, its best if Pat Ruta or Dom take a look at this before anything else.

While the character seems sound; I honestly don't know how we're going to add him to the current mix of roleplay without disrupting the careful situation OoC. We're just starting to build back a populace on the server, and we have countless threats already facing them between Marcus Olm, Vladimir Radislav, Robael Locule, and Vorn Tyrr. Even if he was a self-loathing paladin of pure goodness, we have a slew of characters filling a sort of Event Character role due to their time and experience on the server, IC, and the power they've accrued. The character seems very interesting, and I can appreciate the time it took to write.... but I'm suggesting perhaps we wait on accepting him.

One more dastardly evil force with its hands in dark places, or good guys with incredible powers of ne'er-do-well slaying, may just be enough to make character making futile.

Augustus is intended for the next chapter, whenever this may be as discussed with Pat.
