The Blight Warriors

The Blight Warriors[WIP] Chesspiece__White_Knight_by_blackswordsman28

Recruitment and Development

The Blight Warriors is a clan of Humans handpicked by the founders of the group around the Surnan area. People who have potential are offered to join. If they accept, they will be taken to the leader, a man known for his skills in leadership, combat, and is trustworthy , who will judge if the person has the skills to join. If they are, they will fitted with Iron Armor and cloth clothing with Blight Resistant Enchanted Iron attached. Right when they join, they practice their sword work everyday. When the time comes, all the training they did will be put to the test. All members are told the risks they will be facing, and all are prepared to face them.

History

The group began after the first battle to stop Vladislav. They only reason they did not arrive to stop him was because they were not developed or supplied yet. The same situation occurred during the second attempt then. But now, The Blight Warriors have reached a member count of 32, and are now ready to begin to fight Vladislav. This group was formed for the sole reason to fight the Blight-Caster and his allies.

Equipment

The Blight Warriors are usually equipped with Iron or Steel 1 or 2 Handed Swords with Iron or Steel Kite shields. They wear heavy armor, mostly Iron with cloth clothing with Blight Resistant Enchanted Iron Armor attaches on. Because of this, The Blight Warriors are slow moving, but are extremely effective in combat. They have multiple connections throughout the city to help supply them with the armor and weapons they need, and for the items that they aren't supplied with, they have blacksmiths and mages to do the rest, yet all members must pay part of the expenses to help buy the equipment.

Recruitment Regulations

Many regulations are required for new members to become Greenhorns. First off, they need to be able to withstand the weight of all the armor they will be wearing. Second, they need to be skilled with 1 or 2 handed swords. Third, members must know the risks they are facing and prove that they are willing to face them. Fourth, all members must be able to pay for some of the expenses for the sword and armor they will wear. Finally, everyone must be ready to fight the Blight-Caster at all times.

Fighting Style

During combat, The Blight Warriors will start out in something call a shield wall. This formation is 8 rows wide and 4 rows deep. The hold their shield up to their torso and their sword up in the air (exluding the front row, which hold their swords infront of them). The row behind another row pushes their shield into the backs of the row in front of them, making a strong wall that can push through forces. If fighting Vladislav, when they reach him , they surround him in a two rows deep circle. When this circle is formed, the forces will advance on him, closing him in. This way, the only way he can escape is if he flies or burrows.

Ranks

Initiate- Potential Members

Greenhorn- Members

Longhorn- Experienced Members

High Warrior- Veteran Members

Grand Warrior- Co-Founders

Elder Warrior- Founder

I... well, I mean... what?

"The group began after the first battle to stop Vladislav. They only reason they have not surfaced themselves to stop him was because they were not developed yet." - Uhm... well, I don't mean to be rude but... the grammar, where is it? Usually when you suggest something, you should at least make sure there aren't any typos... but, this is a little more than typos.

Similarly... where do they get this gear, and this [Insert Blight Resistant Armor Here, that I'm not aware of Existing]? I mean... it's just... I have far too many questions to even comment.

and... the picture... that armor looks expensive, who is supplying it? The fact it is blight resistant would make it shit tons expensive probably, and add to the cost. = /

And... well, lastly... what clans are these? Where are they from, and how does this work with the elf lore in place? = / And who on Tyr's green Aeria is Vandibon Drizden... the similarity to Vladislav Radimir makes me think it's his gilted, unloved, younger brother.

EDIT:

I know this says WIP, but, you shouldn't begin posting until at least most of your material is in place. I could understand if there was a segment missing, or one that you wanted people to really take a look at and give you feedback on... but... well... there isn't much here.

I think the questions you need to answer in your next edit are these.

1. How do these guys support and equip themselves? Are they expected to equip themselves, or does the leader provide? If so, who is the leader to buy enough equipment to provide for 80~ men?

2. If this is more than just a militia, what makes the group attractive enough to bring in accomplished men who could join established government operations like the military or the watch instead? Is it the leader's skills, reputation, wealth, or some mixture of all three?

3. What armor do they use that could be Blight resistant? You mentioned having armor sanctified. By who? Would they seek out Barton or one of the clergy in town? Or does the leader somehow have the ability to sanctify it himself?

4. How are they organized?

Oh, and, I know I talked about armor styles, but I'm not the best person to go to. Try talking to Rutabega for era-friendly heavy armor types.

Just going to say no on this.

I'm seeing lots of lore issues, the story behind them doesn't make sense to me... why not just join the irregulars? Why decide to make your own secret group? Blight-resistant materials are crazy-expensive if they exist at all. I'd doubt your 'multiple connections throughout the city' could afford even one blight-resistant piece of armour. Not to mention that you can't enchant iron or steel as neither are magically conductive. The cheapest armour I could see having an enchantment of this sort at all would be moonsteel. Which is still pretty expensive. You know, we have all these super-rich super-powerful adventurer types in the Irregulars and none of them have anything similar to what you're trying to pull with common people... I just don't see this faction happening.

Mmmkay well I think it's pretty much decided but.. I'll chip in.

For blight resistant materials.. yeah, I'd think mithril maybe? But um..."Blight-resistant materials are crazy-expensive if they exist at all" yeah, and a suit of mithril armor would just show around how high. Equipping 32 members with it would be... hell, even as a noble (Probably). I also have to agree with the "Vlad hate group" post. It literally says in there that their motive is to hunt Vlad and his allies. I personally don't know what kind of lore issues this would make though, and.. "Blight resistant enchantments"? ...Idk. I doubt it mostly cause of what everyone else's saying but uh.. maybe? It wouldn't be that specifically, maybe something that just ALSO has a good defense from blight. Also: "They have multiple connections throughout the city to help supply them with the armor and weapons they need, and for the items that they aren't supplied with, they have blacksmiths and mages to do the rest, yet all members must pay part of the expenses to help buy the equipment."
Noodle already commented on the "connection." The blacksmiths would need to still buy the materials and the mages... idk, they'd still need money for whatever materials they need. If not then maybe they could enchant the stuff? Ok, but it's still just the cost on having that equipment, and with those materials.

So, I'm sorry.

But, um.. as a suggestion, maybe you could change it to a group of monster slayers or something that came here to help. For money or.. fame.. being nice. Idk, something like that, but then it might just look like another group of irregulars. Anyways, that's my input. Nothing new really but uh.. there you go.

Hey, lay off him (not you, Gunrunner). He needs criticism, not a charbroiled ego. We should encourage stuff like this, not grind it into the dirt.

Also, yes, Mithril would act like a 'blight-resistant' armor, since it resists magic, meaning Blight can't eat away at it like it can with other metals. Of course, Mithril is very, very expensive.

Speaking of Mithril - is it just me, or have I seen a lot of new characters running around with Mithril equipment lately?

Pat's right about taking it easy. With fine tuning, the idea could work. In regards to my last message, I sat down with him, and talked over a bit of material (which would've taken a lot of forum posts to do, as I said in my message), and we talked about possibilities for his group. Wiz is a little down on the idea himself, kind of agreeing with the fact it was mostly a hope to stop the rampants of the bad guys in a proper IC fashion.
