PostSubject: Re: Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover   Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover EmptyFri Oct 19, 2012 5:34 am

A rift of darkness appears against the backdrop of space in proximity of the pirate planet. From the unlit rift, the Cataygr jumps in, coming to a slow drift as it fires reverse thrust. Another rift several times larger with a dark purple tinge, almost undetectable to the eye, appears right behind. The capital ship Acyr appears and rapidly slows to a stop over the Cataygr.

Ships:

The Acyr starts scanning the planet and the surrounding space for ships. It detects the pirate outpost and sends the information to the Cataygr.

SAERID FORCES IN SECTOR 18

NAVAL UNIT "PEACEMAKER"

===

After getting the final response they had been looking for to track down the pirates, the Saerid ships come in bulk to remove the problem. One capital ship, three destroyers, and two carriers arrive on the theater of war. The hangars of the ships open and objects surrounded in a beam of light shoot rapidly one of the battleships. After the objects threaten to collide with one of the battleships many THORs fly out of the hangars and make their way for an attack run on the other battleship. The formation of THORs stays out of line from the mighty beam weapon that has been installed on the capital ship. It points at one of the frigates, threatening to fire.

The Current Ships within the Offensive Fleet are as follows:
Spoiler:
===

A massive black void is visible in space, before erupting into a large burst of purple shockwaves and bolts of energy. From the void of space, eight Zaedrax vessels appear, their shields glowing a vibrant aqua color. As the vessels near the location, they look over the data sent to them by the Saerid once more before sending out a quick scan to confirm. Shortly after, their angular hulls split open, revealing a wide array of weapons. The ZTN Harbinger is the first to open fire, using its newly added energy projector to fire at the Thrasher battleships not being attacked by the Saerid. The other vessels open fire as well, releasing a volley of pulse fire, combined with the fire of multiple railguns. Energy projectors from the other ships also fire upon the frigates, their scorching beams aimed directly at the center of the vessels.

Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover   Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover EmptyFri Oct 19, 2012 7:36 pm

As the first ship enter the rest stop of the pirates, barrelman sound alarms to each ship and trigger a collective shield raise across the small fleet. The hallways on the ships turn from a normal yellow light, to a red at the alert. Crew members dump whatever they are doing and run for their posts with hoots and hollers of excitement.

The two battleships and frigates move into formation. The fleet's tight orbit formation allows them easy positioning for rapid engagement.

The battleships let their broadside face the enemy redirecting shield power ratio to defend one side with the planet shielding the other. The two frigates sit at an elevated position to the battleships, just peaking out over their shields.

The pirate commander stands over a console inside Thrasher 1 strapping a headset on to communicate with his comrades, men running left and right shouting statuses and prepping for combat. Thrasher 2 is hit first with the attempting boarding parties, but their crafts slam into the particle barriers shattering them to pieces.

"This is your Khan, Temujin. Beat to quarters. All vessels disengage engines and nonessential systems for maximum power conservation for the duration of the battle. Anyone on the ground is now on their own and must make for the designated asylum harbor to regroup.

Gunners, let'm rip once in range. Firestorm 1 and 2, you have those names for a reason and don't focus on your rails just engage maximum fuck. We lost our fighters so this may be short but we can still survive to live another day."

The Thrashers are rocked by the first wave of fire hitting them. Surprisingly they stand up to it quite well for pirate vessels. The Thrashers absorb all fire from the vessels with their particle shielding before being able to return fire. Thor craft enter the fleet's flak range as hull guns fire off salvo after salvo of rounds that put up a flashing yellow wall in front of the ships. The large rail guns on the Thrashers turn on their mounts to face the two opponents who failed to raise their shields hoping for a surprise attack, they are almost charged to fire.

From behind the two Thrashers, the two Firestorm frigates launch both payloads of 50 loaded missiles out into space above them like a volley of bottle rocket fireworks. Their smoke trails dissipate before secondary ignitions light up with a blue hue and redirect course towards the attacking vessels. Upon nearing contact they split up into smaller cluster bombs and detonate upon impact of shields and hulls. About 200 warheads are spread out over the attackers in one volley.

Down on the planet, a pirate encampment is radioed about the retreat and the fleet stalling for time. The pirates run to man their landed ships from their makeshift shacks and barracks as others man the radar controlled 20mm CIWS guns. A couple men run into a bunker and jump on some computers wired to the automated guns. They designate incoming threats through their radar and let the guns go to work. Four CIWS guns protect the small compound, firing at 5,000 rounds per minute with a 360 degree firing arc.

[Lets test your combat abilities on the first open battle with two fronts.]

The Cataygr stays out of firing range of the missiles, taking the slower approach. The beams cross the distance very rapidly into the oncoming missiles. Alternating laser pulses continue through the resulting explosions as the Cataygr alters course to strafe towards the rear of the Firestorms at maximum port thrust. The Ritic cannon fires off, sending a single pulsed beam at the shields of Firestorm 1.

SAERID FORCES IN SECTOR 18

NAVAL UNIT "PEACEMAKER"

===

The combined forces of the Saerid fire at the missiles as they come closer to them and the other fleets. The THORs lead the attack on the missiles, firing at them from afar to ward off the missiles before they make contact with any of the ships. This would likely create a chain effect and blow a few missiles around the missiles being hunted by the advanced sensors and weaponry of the THORs. Though the expert maneuvering of the Saerid is one of note, THOR's are caught by the fire of the planet and the ships. With little regard to their lives, the Saerid units already going down make a course to collide into the ships nearest to them in a large explosion.

The massive ships of the Saerid fire relentlessly at the pirate forces, aiming at the pirate Thrasher battle ships. As the Saerid take fire from the planet forces and the space bound ships, communications open between the other empires present and out of sector. The Saerid ship's shields enter a lol, but slowly recover between the barrage of fire.

The ZTN Adajn, Prism, and Justice halt firing their pulse weapons at the Battleship. They begin to focus on the two frigates, firing barrages of pulse energy and railguns. The main railgun of the Adajn fires large tungsten projectiles towards the frigates.

The ZTN Vigilance and Ravager fire their large array of pdw's at the incoming missiles, all coordinated by AI. All the while, they fire at the frigates and battleships with their energy projectors and railguns.

The ZTN Harbinger continues its relentless assault, firing its massive energy projector again while its front facing MAC begins to warm up, preparing to load a 3 thousand ton ferrous slug into its chamber.

The ZTN Knight and Oculus being the skeletion-ships that they are, boast a much larger amount of weapons while sporting hull shapes and designs impossible for habitability. Their assortment of railguns and pulse cannons lay fire upon the enemy ships, their front facing tri-railguns firing slugs in the direction as well.

BooM: Guilty of metagaming on one account and powergaming on two accounts. Work on your BB code man, Jesus.

Metagaming
Quote :
One capital ship, three destroyers, and two carriers arrive on the theater of war. The weapons of the battle ships are active and train on the ships but hold fire. The hangars of the ships open and objects surrounded in a beam of light shoot rapidly one of the battleships. After the objects collide with one of the battleships many THORs fly out of the hangars and make their way for an attack run on the other battleship. [No prior knowledge to where the ships are or what they are doing.] The formation of THORs stays out of line from the mighty beam weapon that has been installed on the capital ship. It points at one of the frigates, threatening to fire.

Powergaming
Quote :
The units launched at the battleship breach the hulls and activate inside the ship. The twenty units make their way to the network of the ship and use surprise tactics to eliminate any enemies on the way with ruthless efficiency. The units cover the sides, front, and rear from possible assaults from the pirates. [Come on really.]

Quote :
Though the expert maneuvering of the Saerid is one of note, THOR's are caught by the fire of the planet and the ships. With little regard to their lives, the Saerid units already going down plunge into the ships nearest to them, taking down the shields and tearing apart some of the hulls after a large explosion. [You negate chance to hit, you do not dictate if those shields are down or if the hull is going to be damaged.]

Quote :
The massive ships of the Saerid fire relentlessly at the pirate forces, aiming at the damaged hulls. [Again, who said they were damaged.] As the Saerid take fire from the planet forces and the space bound ships, communications open between the other empires present and out of sector.

Phoenix: Guilty of metagaming and powergaming on one account.

Quote :
Energy crackles audibly within the ship as the primary cannon of the Acyr meets optimal firing capacity. The ship pivots in place towards the planet, a single meter thick cylinder of light cascading from the central weapon. Air on the ground ionizes with energy just prior to the strike of the beam on the top of a bunker, the diameter of the continuous beam shrinking into a refined beam the size of a pencil. Several meters of the armor on the top of bunker begin to melt away with the blast, dripping liquid metal onto any unlucky pirates inside. The multiple turrets dotting the exterior of the ship continue to track the space combat and fire in bursts at missiles coming at allied ships.[No prior knowledge to where the bunker is in order to fire at it. Destroying the bunker is when it becomes powergaming.]

Venom: Guilty of powergaming on one account.

Quote :
The ZTN Adajn, Prism, and Justice halt firing their pulse weapons, as the enemy shields flicker with each impact. [You've negated chance to hit like BooM.] They begin to focus on the two frigates, firing barrages of pulse energy and railguns. The main railgun of the Adajn fires large tungsten projectiles towards the frigates.

Personally, for the first combat you've guys were in you did pretty good. The main failure being the negation of chance to hit. Which is no different from Aeria's chance to hit in server. You don't get to decide someone's fate, unless a GM allows it. You guys also broke rules 2 & 3.

I also really frown upon entry post attacks. Jumping in, powering weapons and shields, and attacking. What did you miss? Scanning for things. Even if you did scan it becomes powergaming pretty quickly. Things take time and you have to give everyone a fair opportunity. Only Phoenix and Venom did that, although Venom please don't say "they take notice of them." That's vague and sounds pretty bad.

Learning lesson over, let the questions begin.

Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover   Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover EmptyTue Oct 23, 2012 6:43 pm

Temujin grips his post as his vessel is rocked by the beam weapons. The two Firestorm frigates duck behind the particle shields as stray railgun slugs careen off the kinetic shields. The incoming missiles are not detonated when hit by beam weapons but are instead vaporized. Defense guns manage to disable a couple missiles before they split, although their warheads were unarmed and fail to cause a chain reaction. The delivered payload by the rockets seems a light explosive, merely testing the waters.

"Thash barriers at half!" shouts a ensign.

"Lock targets on those larger vessels while they charge their beam weapons for another go. Theirs shields we be at their weakest for a short time. The main railguns on the Thashers have been charged enough energy for a thirty second barrage. We'll be out of here before they are able to deplete us and leave us dead in the water.

Tell the boys on the ground to get a move on, set the emplacements to automatic and haul ass!"

"Targets acquired sir!"

"Engage!"

The x5 275mm railguns on each Thrasher vessel release firing locks, rounds pushed into the chambers. Military grade copper jacketed plutonium core slugs wait to be thrown at the enemy at 500 rpm. A little light on the side of the guns blinks red, then green and remains lit. The ten guns let rip a 30 second burst of automatic fire onto the enemy crafts. The guns quickly rise to red hot levels.

Enemy crafts can still not get close to the Thrashers or Firestorms, being protected in a wall of flak fire.

Down on the planet the CIWS guns are let loose on automatic targeting while the men flee the bunker, one gun is destroyed by a lucky shot that melts a power cable while two others run out of ammunition. The pirates begin to lift off with their transport ships engaging full thrust to make for the Firestorms. Men arm the defense guns on the transport crafts and open fire. Two or three of the smaller transports are hit and tumble back to the ground.

Men lucky enough to survive the tumble to the planet in their ship dig in and wait for the fight to come to them.

The Azraelic Republic

Typhon Class Ship: Numidian Presiding.

-\-|-/-

Away from the battle, quite a notable distance, from the starboard side of any ship facing the immediate installation upon the planet's surface, a probe jettisons out from the inky darkness of space through means of faster than light travel. The probe remains relatively stationary and uninteresting for several moments, sending out no immediate signals save one transmission via ultra-link to a distant ship.

This ship reports back to the Typhon-Class Ship Numidian, existing between the border ranges of the sectors: Eleven, Seven, and Six; the ship, intended to observe and report on happenings with both the nature of Sector Seven, as well as reports of a pirate installation within the Sector by the Saerid, now takes a more active approach of the observation.

The probe transmits energy readings, before attempting visual diagnostics of the situation. The large frigates dwarf the Numidium, but seeing the juxtaposition of forces laid against the pirates, the Numidium's store of Phalanx, GEARs, and most importantly the legendary Reavers, may be able to turn the tide of the entire battle should they be able to land upon the installation.

Numbering a full troop count of one thousand, not including navy personal who man the Numidian, deriving down the enlistment as follows.
Phalanx: Five-hundred men and women.
Reavers: Three-Hundred men and women.
GEARs: Two-Hundred men and women.

The smaller, lesser armed, quick moving vessel prepares itself for evasive maneuvers, as it powers its engines and the sirens do sound. The ship begins to propel itself into faster than light travel, the course having been set, propelling the vessel a distance away from its probe, but still in the deep starboard flank, ranging closer to the forces assaulting the pirates than not.

((I apologize for the delay, but I do believe BooM gave me permission to participate here.))

The Current Ships within the Offensive Fleet are as follows:
Spoiler:
===

The ZTN Adajn, Prism, and Justice redirect their fire once again, sending a wall of pulse fair towards the enemy vessels indiscriminately. As they fire, they move to cover The Pit's vessels' escape.

The ZTN Vigilance and Ravager fire their pulse weapons as well. The few missiles that impact their shields are destroyed by its particle shielding.

The ZTN Harbinger takes fire from the barrage of slugs, its shield flickering as its secondary kinetic shields defend against the attacks. Their MAC is ready to fire, keeping the front of the ship facing an enemy battleship as internal stabilization units and AI begin to calculate and adjust the complex dynamics that it takes to accurately fire such a massive projectile. As this happens, the Harbinger once again fires its energy projector, now aiming its fire at the frigates.

Slugs impact against the ZTN Oculus and ZTN Knights' shields, causing the vessels to be rumbled slightly. Their shields lower a large amount from the massive barrage, but hold. Warning sirens are engaged, as crew rush to the shield generators in hopes to boost the energy output and get it back to full as quick as possible. Meanwhile, the railguns and energy projectors fall silent from the vessels, before they begin to fire their onslaught of pulse weapons.

SAERID FORCES IN SECTOR 18

NAVAL UNIT "PEACEMAKER"

===

Not needing the extra power taking ship sections that an organic would need, the extra power is rerouted to the shields to bolster them against the pirates assault. The Saerid hold fire with the experimental beam weapon, seeing the negative effects on the Pit ships. However, they continue to fire the turrets laced all around the multiple ships. The Saerid's don't seem to have taken much of any damage to their hulls.

The THOR's make a decision to charge under one of the Thrasher ships. Some are torn to pieces but most should make it through. Should they make it through, the THOR's attack the unshielded hulls of the Thrasher.

Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover   Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover EmptySat Oct 27, 2012 5:22 pm

A second wave of missiles comes flying out of the Firestorm frigates once the barrage on the Thrashers is over. Over 200 warheads are bound to detonate over the two fleets.

The flak wall put up by the pirates rips the THOR's to pieces at they try to come close to the shield. The heavy mortar rounds send steel shrapnel in all directions and must likely keep any others at bay until the firing stops.

"We've got thirty seconds Khan!"

"We can wait. Divert weapon power on the Thrashers to shields. Maintain jump capability across the fleet."

The pirate transports speed to catch their mother ships. Two more falling back to the planet in a fiery mess.

"They even take the defenseless. Animals."

The transport ships make it to the Firestorms coming in hot with IFF codes. They slam onto the landing decks and skid across it.

"All ships accounted for!"

"Jump!"

But it's too late for the second Thrasher ship to escape like the two Firestorms and the Khan's Thrasher. Under the heavy fire and lack of a disciplined crew they fail to maintain FTL to rally at the asylum port. The particle shield can be seen flicker and disperse violently with an energy discharge. Only the flak defense guns and turrets remain under manual hydraulic power to repel borders.

Offensive Fleet
Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover I93Ma
{The ZTN Harbinger After enhancements}
The Current Ships within the Offensive Fleet are as follows:
Spoiler:
===

The ZTN Adajn, Prism, and Justice's pulse barrage takes a toll on their energy, and the incoming missiles prove to be very problematic. The small vessels attempt to take evasive maneuvers, dividing their power for their shields and engines.

The ZTN Vigilance and Ravager lack the speed of their smaller brothers, and increase their shields to maximum, bracing for impact.

The ZTN Harbinger doesn't hesitate, and fires its MAC at the un-shielded battleship. Its internal stabilization and boosters are controlled by an AI to calibrate for the MAC, and allow the massive 5 ton slug to fly accurately at its intended target.

The ZTN Oculus and ZTN Knights' large size make them sponges for the incoming missiles, their particle shielding taking the blunt of the attack. The lack of any luxuries, or life support allow for increased energy output, and their shielding barely holds. They warm up their slipspace drives.

The Azraelic Republic

Typhon Class Ship: Numidian Presiding.

-\-|-/-

From the position it has away from the larger naval battle, the cruiser begins to scan the surface of the planet, scanning for industrial installations, military bases, geography, and from these things examining where they should land. The Typhon Numidian remains in its geocentric drift, moving away from the battle slowly while keeping its engines cool; they continue to scan the surface of the planet, as well as the ships that are fighting it out in the distance.

The analysts of the cruiser alongside military tacticians begins to assess the situation, planning for the battle ahead of them. Taking into account the amount of possible surprise they have, and their ability to quietly deal with the enemy as long as possible, entrenching themselves, and perhaps downing at least their anti-personal large-scale weaponry before being detected.

SAERID FORCES IN SECTOR 18

NAVAL UNIT "PEACEMAKER"

===

Along with the other empires there, the Saerid fire back at the incoming missiles. The large flak turrets appear from the ship and open fire on the missiles. These flak turrets fire with ruthless efficiency as the are guided by the improved sensors and AI on board the multiple large battle ships. Rather than fire at the unsheilded ship, the units only focus on the missiles approaching the Saerid ships and not on other empires ships. The remaining THOR's regroup to engage the missiles while the main battle ships continue to drift through space.

In the distance, near the distant ships, appears two destroyers and a carrier. Though the units piloting the ships seem to be hostile to the fleet, they remain a neutral state. Units scatter about the ships but most are in battle positions already from the information they received from the main Saerid fleet that battles the retreating pirate forces.

The 5 ton slug passes through the ship easily, shearing it in two. The added fired only rips the hull apart and fragments the vessel into man pieces. The nations show their true colors of ruthlessness firing upon the ship dead in the water.

On the planet below, many of the remaining pirate survivors know their fate and dig in around their bunker. They manage to pull together a good amount of supplies and hide inside it, as well as build trenches around it and throw over cam nets to remain hidden from the sky. A couple engineers fiddle with the downed CIWS guns, bringing two of them inside the bunker and returning one to action. The remaining operational gun lies deactivated for the time being.

Other than the pirate's hidden bunker, the planet is uncolonized and has extremely rural farm communities.

SAERID FORCES IN SECTOR 18

NAVAL UNIT "PEACEMAKER"

===

The Saerid Directive ships drift through space, orbiting the planet beneath them. While the ships decrease in activity to prep for a ground invasion and conversation with the other empires present. Communications open with the Zaedrax should they accept. It is soon made obvious that the Saerid Directive do not intent to share the planet with the other empires without having some sort of backing, regardless of the support they offered. As the message is sent the large hangars of the Saerid ships near the pirate ship wreck. Out comes many THOR's sent to the wreck, not of peaceful intent either. No transport is seen with the Saerid THOR's. After a few moments the THOR's make it to the wreck and fire upon it, continuing the ruthless assault to ensure some pirates will not be a trouble later on.

On the other side of the planet, some distance away from the conflict in space, the other Saerid ships open the hangars opposite to the fleet and release some THOR's. They hover around the destroyer as it aims its weapons upon the ships. Though the Saerid have called upon them and hasn't seen eye to eye before, the units don't appear to be welcoming of the fleet. The same message sent to the Zaedrax is sent to the Typhon ships.
Code:
We thank you for you support but without a further agreement we cannot let you make colonizing efforts on this planet, unfortunately.

Sector 18 - Hostile Takeover I93Ma
{The ZTN Harbinger After enhancements}
The Current Ships within the Offensive Fleet are as follows:
Spoiler:
===

The ZTN Adajn, Prism, Justice. Vigilance, Ravager, Oculus, and Knight quickly open slipspace ruptures, disappearing to an unknown location.

The ZTN Harbinger recoils from the MAC fire, thrusters engaging to keep them from drifting too far. They receive the UCUS message and respond with their own:
Quote :
Our actions here should be registered as a positive and supporting action towards your nation. We do not intend on colonizing this planet, but rather setting up communication arrays and a small military garrison. We would be open to agreements, as we hope they prove to become more fruitful than our trade fiasco.

As the communication sends, multiple small projectiles are launched from the underside of the ZTN Harbinger. Should they make it into atmosphere, they would land in the rural areas, perhaps by some communities. The pods would open up, and five autonomous units would emerge from each, and they would begin to scan the terrain and take note of interesting locations. They would act friendly towards any civilians or farmers, and pirate unites would not be fired upon unless they engage first.
