Closeby to the planet a blue cloud of energy begins to form, getting brighter until it eventually explodes in a blinding flash, in it's place are two cruisers and a single frigate. They slowly head toward the planet, scanning it's atmosphere and surface.

The arrival scans show the planet has large green oceans filled with a unique algae that thrives off photosynthesis. The harsh surface is windswept and remains at inhospitable temperatures beyond freezing. Beyond the ice is unknown, and sample drilling is necessary.

A klom away to the right of the Templars, a Blue fissure opens up and a Nichi ship comes out, A cruiser called Taihou's Sermon.

It tunnels out and the fissure closes.
The Taihou doesn't have weapons powered or shields on, instead it starts scanning the planet.
It sends a comm to the Templars.

The God Emperor sensed an interesting site among these coordinates, we would like to help you if you allow us, but we would like to research this planet for the God Emperor sent us these coords and no details.

A reply hail reaches the Nichi ship, though no video link is established:

"You may do whatever it is you wish to do in order to find your objective, we do not hold claim over this planet however we would like to ask that you do not do anything that would cause significant damage."

As this is sent out the ships move toward the planet surface, dropships filled with personel and various mining equipment exit the hangars and cautiously land on the surface, the cruisers constantly making scans for anything suspicious. An Ice-Core drill is set up and activated, digging deep into the ice.

The Cruiser flies closer to planet and then sits in orbit.

"According to our scans, there is an unique algae that thrives of photosynthesis that covers the ocean floor, I am sending a couple shuttles down to start an inspection and collect samples of it, I will send data and anything that derives of it to your people, The God Emperor encourages sharing of scientific research with honorable people like of your selves."

A handful of cargo shuttles are filled with equipment and crew and are sent down towards the planet, landing on a low coastline that has rock on it. They start to calibrate equipment in the shuttles, getting ready to dive into the green ocean.

"Oh also, The God Emperor says that He would like to meet the Templar's commander in person sometime, to have a chat over Tea and talk about working together, it would be a great honor for him if he accepted his request but it would have no bearing on his honor if it was denied."

On the surface, the Templar set up a few small tremor scanners incase anything underground comes toward them. The dropships returning to the Cruisers to pick up more equipment when needed, the drill still digging and sending up samples to the surface via a chute.

The Nichi recieve another message: "We thank you for the assistance with the algae, it may prove beneficial indeed...your 'Emperor' would like to meet the Commander, you say? Oh my, i'm sure it's been awhile since the Commander has had tea but I'm sure he'll accept."

The freezing temperatures begin to effect the Templar on the surface, though their varient suits, designed for extreme temperatures manage to hold out for now.

[OOC]: I know this seems nitpicky, but algae wouldn't grow on the ocean floor if it photosynthesizes. It would need to float near the surface to get sunlight. The ocean floor is dark.

The Nichi calibrate the equipment and get into cold environment suits.
They move the equipment out to the shoreline and start to collect samples of the Algae that grow along it.
They also collect samples of the ocean water.

Meanwhile on the Cruiser, The captain drinks some tea.

The ocean is extremely salty, and the algae seems to try and pull away from the collectors. The air around the algae is thick with the smell of diesel fuel.

Jun Azumi: Sir, the algae is moving away from my collector, I'm having a hard time collecting it Sir.
Kenji Kotaru: Try putting a lit flashlight in the collector then grab at them.

Jun gets out a small palm flashlight and turns it on, tossing it into the collector and trys to get another sample of the Algae.

As the light clicks on, a long vine of kelp is lashed out from under the murky water for the Nichi man's leg. It attempts to rip him underwater by his ankle.

As Jun gets grabbed by the vine of kelp, he freaks out and tosses the flashlight into the water, and grabs at the heavy analysis equipment while being pulled.

Jun:HELP ME!

The other scientists start to freak out, they drop the tools and try to grab Jun.
Meanwhile an Ashiguru guard stationed with them gets out his katana and attempts to cut the vine if he has enough time for the chance.

The vine yanks violently before retreating, either taking the man whole or maybe just his leg. The kelp cluster retreats a bit into the water with its meal.

Jun's leg is ripped off, he wails and screams in pain.
The crew hurry him over to the Shuttles to patch up.

One crew member goes over to his radio and sends out a general message.

"The Algae tried to take one of our crew down into the sea with a vine after he turned on a palm light, also I think its alive."

The Azraelic Republic

Typhon Class Vessel: Ragnar Presiding

The Azraelic Republic sends a rather large vessel into the nearby system after FTL systems are detected going off within their own system. They scan the systems for a source of FTL transmission or electronic signals being emitted. Over the course of several hours, they are able to derive from which planet in the system there are operators working. The Typhon class ship advances with a short range FTL transit, arriving within the spheres of the planet.

The Typhon class ship emits a broadcast signal throughout the planetary area, relaying a transmission signal.

"This is Aedelric Derrel of the Azraelic Blade, the figurehead of the Republican Government in control of The Republic of Azraelas, which exists within this sector. We would thank you for your investigation of this planet, and we would ask you coordinate with the Azraelic Republic for mutual benefit in establishing settlement upon this planet. After all, the galaxy can be a hostile place, and we would seek to find allies and kinship instead of enemies and conflict."

The Typhon class vessel sits in space, emitting the signal for other vessels in the area. It also sends word to not only the nearest Typhon class ship in the case that reinforcements should be needed, but it also sends word slightly further, back to the capital, New Lunastia itself.

This particular Typhon ship is rather well manned, supporting the following number of troops under its nimble, sizable hull.
Phalanx: Six Hundred.
Reavers: Two-Hundred.
GEARs: One-Hundred.

This does not include the navy personal who run the Ragnar.

Aboard the Templar Battlecruiser, the captain waits patiently until he detects more ships entering nearby, he keeps the crew of the vessel on alert while he awaits for any other actions. After awhile of waiting the Azraelic message would reach the ship, which the captain listens to carefully, he attempts to open up a hail with the Azraelic ships with the following message:

"Greetings, this is Captain Garl of the Templar Remnants. We apologise if you feel we have intruded on your sector, this was certainly not our intention and we had come here in hopes of finding resources. I am open to diplomatic negotiations, if this is what you are requesting."

Back on the surface of the planet, the mining crew get a message to keep ready incase a battle occurs, a couple dropships heading down just incase though otherwise they continue working.

The Azraelic ship promptly responds, a different officer speaking, in place of a member of the Azraelic Blade; this man is adorned in combat armor, occasionally gesturing a man or two about, before replying more formally and with politeness to the ship bearing ties to the Templar Remnant.

"This is the commanding officer of the resident ship, the Ragnar, Typhon Class Ship of the Azraelic republic. Diplomacy is a lovely thing, when men are free and honest; this is what we would strive to achieve with anyone who will listen, yourselves included. The Azraelic Republic fights a constant war against a cosmic horror spreading across the far corners of space, and though our people are devout and industrious, settlement and colonization can prove difficult in such times. We would be more than willing to discuss terms on which we could both cultivate this planet, which will be mutually beneficial to us both. We harbor no ill will unto your intrusion, we are a small power as of yet, and in the vastness of space, these things are sure to happen."

The Azraelic ship remains in its stationary orbital state, showing no signs of offense, nor planning any sort of rogue-ery. The support ship and the massive military installations on New Lunastia are kept well informed.

The Nichi Cruiser follows along with the transmissions, the captain opens up a hail.

This is Captain Itoh Sukeyuki of the Cruiser Taihou's Sermon of the Nichi Empire, We've come here on orders of our Emperor to investigate this planet and we've come across an Algae that may hamper your efforts

We sent a crew down their to investigate and collect samples and apparently its alive to an extent
One of the scientists, a Jun Azumi turned on a flash light and was attacked by the algae, a vine tried to take him under which ripped his leg off. We've been trying to figure a way to deal with it while collecting samples and not receive any more casualties.

The ice takes hours to cut through, eventually reaching rock. The rock seems to be rich in iron and quartz. At the bottom of the sample seems to be the dust of diamonds. The planet may be worth opening a sub-surface mining operation.

The lead-sergeant in charge of the surface sampling operation looks over the various samples after the tedious hours of waiting. He nods as he finishes examining and sends up a notification back to the Battlecruiser, to which Garl curiously reads, before sending out another message to the Azraelic ship:

"A cosmic horror, you say?...Hrm, anyway, It would be a pleasure to begin peaceful negotiations. If you would allow us to start a deep mining operation in order to see if there are any minerals far below the ice I am sure we can repay you somehow."
