The Kingdom of Belugora Empty
PostSubject: The Kingdom of Belugora   The Kingdom of Belugora EmptyWed Jan 16, 2013 2:49 pm

The God Sanctioned Kingdom of Belugora, Waterfield, and Reinmark

The Kingdom of Belugora 2aiivdu

The landscape is dark. Factories and tenements line the horizon. The sky is filled with a mixture of smoke, fog, and ash from the countless fires that rage within the looming structures. The sun is suspended in a forever twilight. During daylight hours, the illusion of a sunset is created from the obscuring smog. During the night, artificial illumination floods the planet, plunging it into a second daylight. The pale, ugly population is dressed in sub par clothing, and look half starved. They, much like ants, filter into the factories, so as to receive their meager wage they depend upon. Well dressed and well built soldiers patrol the streets in squads, administering an aura of authority and fear that all others seem to cower before. The citizens, clearly, know their betters. For all intents and purposes, this seems to be Hell.

Population

-Humanoid, much like Homo Sapiens with massive genetic treatments
- Diverse in race, skin color varies by location and altitude
- Centered mostly in urban areas or semi-urban manors
- Most of the population owned by a small percentage

Religion

- Monotheistic God with several aspects, officially defined as four aspects by official church. Dissent remains in remote parts of planet.
- Strong, centralized church
- Church intermixed with government
- Strong belief in a deified soldier who, upon the shattering of his shield, managed to thwart a sacking of the capital city
- Belief in afterlife and purgatory, whereas the entrance to the 'good' afterlife is the complete devotion to the ruling government (assuming the Church approves)
- Death in battle, assuming it involves the defense of Country, allows for a special position in the afterlife

Politics

- Centralized Monarchy with the illusion of small, self governance.
- Army conscripted from middle class, engineered through minor, discreet genetic treatments
- Ruling Head of State hereditary, with extreme genetic engineering and intense training in war, diplomacy, rhetoric, and sense.
- Hereditary nobility
- Council of nobles
- Strong, harsh laws. Capital punishment is common
- Martial law at all times, no professional police force

Important People

House Serryglaza

King Konstantin "Milovidnyy" "Constantine The Handsome"

After a hundred years of genetic treatments, and a thousand of eugenics programs, King Konstantin is the pinnacle of House Serryglaza. Extremely intelligent, he is well versed in the art of war, rhetoric, and diplomacy. He is extremely handsome, and very promiscuous.

Prince Dormic

The infant heir the to throne, not much to report.

The Royal Council

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy - Reineg Barsev

Grand Marshal of the Land, Sea, and Air - Vladimir Nortov

Master of Mint and Construction - Tomalin Getes

Master of Whispers and Thought - Gregor Goralis

Glorious Patriarkh - Segrius IV

Economy
- Highly centralized, regulated trade
- Complete and utter exploitation of 'workers'
- Mercantilist policies allow for complete market domination with relative ease and little expense
- Chartered companies, ran by nobility or wealthy bourgeoisie
- Main Export: Steel alloys, ship construction, compressed gasses
- Main Import: Food, fuel
- Wealth: Concentrated in hands of a few

Planet "Domov"

The Kingdom of Belugora 5eigQ

- Located in Sector Six, dubbed "Chernomore"
- Pollution filled
- Sprawling cities along the coast and rivers, manors situated inland along transportation routes
- Complete lack of forest due to heavy deforestation
- Desertification spreading
- Water levels slowly dropping

Ground Military

Heavy Infantry - Armored in thick steel-alloy plate and mail, most projectile weapons wouldn't piece the armor. Generally carry a rifle utilizing nanocarbon fibers in order to propel a long steel bolt at 852 m/s. Training involves intensive focus on melee combat, and accuracy. As this is a more decentralized military, uniforms vary between soldiers. Examples here and here. Commonly used as bodyguards for high nobility. Generally made up of nobility seeking proof in battle.

Medium Infantry - Armored in a standard uniform of mail, leather and chest plate, these are the most common soldiers. They carry an air rifle using hypercompressed gas of an unknown element. Propels a steel flechette at 823 m/s. Patrol the streets globally, and are stationed on every military ship as garrison troops and guards. Used as bodyguards for high value targets. This group is made up of the soldier class of genetically modified citizens.

Levy - Armored in absolutely nothing other than clothing, these are only called upon during grave times. Carry hunting equipment or melee weapons. Made up of the lower class and dregs of society.

I've got no problems with this, looks like a good starting point, anybody else got anything to add?

I like it, a lot of industrial shtuff but that's always alright. It's just a couple of minor details, but what is the economic strength of the Empire and who are the important people in it, like leaders. I would accept it as it is, just some things to add if you want to.
I feel like the number of troops on your flagship is pretty darn high as well. I'm new here so I would not go by just my gut feeling on this. If others are OK then ill be fine with that one little thing.

I'll address the important people in the OP, and I'll use this post to address the troop numbers and the economic strength.

The economic strength is a fickle thing that I had some struggle with. The wealth wouldn't be as great as many of the other empires, but it would be an extremely stable economy. The main exports would be labor, steel, and compressed gasses, all of which are essential for ship building. I'm looking for an economy based around building ships, and a good diplomatic option for me would be ship building contracts.

The economy wouldn't function as a free market, it would be centralized and controlled by the monarchy. Companies are given charters, and there's no such thing as Corporations. Wealth is in the hand of the few, and the poor treat shit as gold.

Here's the deal with the troop numbers - contrary to your feelings, they aren't high at all, for the size.

The flagship is 5.12 kilometers long. I suppose the difficulty you have is simply visualizing the sheer size of a 5.12 kilometer long vessel. To compare, the largest ship ever made by humanity in OTL is the Seawise Giant, coming in at a meager 0.48 kilometers. In text, this may seem small, but this is taller than any building ever made by man - which is pretty fucking large. The largest runway in the world has only reached 5.5 km, but we can use this as an approximation of size. Here is the worlds largest runway. Here is a parking lot situated next to the runway. Notice the difference in size. A Honda Civic is 4.4 meters, and stacked bumper to bumper, it would take 1250 honda civics to reach the runway or 1139.09 to reach the flagship. This is completely disregarding the width and height, which astronomically affect the situation.

To bring a sci-fi element in, let's take a look at a similarly classed ship in the Halo universe. The UNSC Infinity has a length of 5.69 kilometers, larger than the largest runway in OTL. The Infinity has a troop compliment of 6,000, along with carrying an unnamed number of Warthogs, Pelicans, Scorpions, Mongeese, Falcons, Mammoths, Broadswords, several hundred drop pods, several thousand escape pods, several thousand lifeboats, along with a massive armament.

To put the Infinity size's in perspective, it is 482,109,948.3 honda civics.

I can agree to the amount of troops, and the nation is well made. I have no problems with it, so can't wait to see it in game.
