Aleksandr was born in 745, in the capital of Pycheko, Vytek. He was born in the same year as the Blight-Purge and the formation of what would become the Commissariat. He was of high birth, a his father was high in politics, and his father before him was a General in the Revolutionary Army of Pycheko. When he was a young boy, his father scrutinized his behavior. He was a natural leader among the other boys, loved to play war games, loved his country, begged his father to meet the Czar for his birthday. Volosin's father determined he had a place in the Commissariat, the most loyal and stalwart of Pychekans served there.
When he was 14, the boy was sent away to the Boy's Commissariat Academy in Vytek. The school was meant to be the first step in weeding out the unfit for the duty of being a Commissar. It educated the boys physically and mentally. They ran, sparred, and practiced their swordsman ship. They learned math, the laws and types of magic, leadership, military history, and the finer arts of speaking. For years his innocence would be chipped away and refined into an unquestioning and loyal mindset.
He graduated 3rd in his class at the age of 18, and was sent to a specialized military training facility. There he would learn strategy and tactics, the art of being a Commissar, fire arms, and was assigned to learn Abjuration. The training was brutal, and the senior Commissars that instructed the course did not have mercy. Perhaps it was to show that the soldiers they would lead upon graduation would be permitted none as well. And their enemies. He was able to weather through it all, and managed to defy his instructors.
The young man was now a Junior Commissar, at the age of 23. For 5 years he was assigned under the mentorship of Commissar Glubiyev. He, Glubiyev, and a Major in the Army lead a platoon of soldiers designated to hunt down Blight-casters in the Wastes Exclusionary Territory. The young, inexperienced Volosin was instructed as much as the Pychekan government knew about the killing of blight casters, which wasn't very extensive. Glubiyev did not offer much insight despite his experience, and in a stoic sort of way would always repeat,"Keep your men under control, and trust your instincts."
Like all wars, nothing could prepare Volosin for the secret Blight wars. His first 6 encounters with a blight caster, he near panicked, and if it were not for the Major and the Commissar's bravery he would have surely ran. Despite the two's leadership, the Blighters were always a slippery kind, not easy to kill and not easy to corner. It was not until his 7th encounter that he started to become hardened to it. This process was very slow. As he became used to the horrors of the Blight and the wielders of its biomass, it took little to shake him. At age 28, he was relieved of his mentorship, and promoted to Commissar. He was assigned a unit of new, "elite" troops. The best in the world his Commanders said. They were to replace the less fit riflemen. They were the Buriczyka, and they were to be directly integrated into the Commissariat.
He shared leadership with the Buriczyka elite commander Major Stoitky, a large man in a group of already large soldiers. For 2 years they worked together, until Volosin's sensitivity to magic began to make him suspicious. He knew the Buriczyka were lightly trained in simple magics, but the Major suddenly acquired a strange aura about him. He didn't question it, having worked along side him for 2 years. Until the Major began to let his leadership fall loose. He sent his men on undermanned patrols to dangerous areas far from their forward base, who would end up missing or confirmed dead. Somehow the reports of their death would fail to reach the Commissariat or Buriczyka HQ. He would falter when combating or pursuing a Blight-caster. He would wave off reports of blight activity as raving mad locals. This is when Volosin knew what he had to do.
It was a heavy blizzard, when Volosin tramped into the Officer's cabin. The Major, with his gasmask off and standing tall and intimating, and his XO beside him. They were looking over a map. Volosin stepped up to the table and clicked his boots together. The Major looked up, and then to the XO,"Give 1st squad their orders immediately." The XO saluted,"Za Pycheko." He turned 90 degrees to exit the cabin, and then saluted the Commissar,"Za Pycheko, Komisarye." Volosin, staring down at the map, looked up to the XO slowly and nodded, saluting him in the lazy way an officer does. "Za Pycheko, Lieutenant." The lieutenant hurried out.
The Major looked to the Commissar and smiled familiarly at him,"We're tracking that caster to sector Yeve-5, comrade. We'll have another head to hang above the Czar's fireplace! Hahaha!" The Major opened his arms out in jubilation as he laughed. Volosin only stared at him from behind his gasmask, his hands behind his back. He offered nothing but silence, staring at Stoitky. The wind howled outside, the fireplace behind the Major barely roared over it. The Major slowly lowered his hands, placing them on the table. His smile faded, as he returned the stare,"Are you alright, comrade-Commissar?" He said with a hint of hostility. The Commissar looked down, as if searching for the words, and then sharply back up, nodding curtly. "Yes, Comrade-Major. Everything's fine. Only I believe Yeve-5 is a little too far for our Blighter friend.. Infact. I think he's very close." The Major narrowed his eyes, concealing one of his hands subtly. "And where might you get that assumption, Comrade-Commissar?" Volosin wrapped a thumb around the hammer of the flintlock behind his back, pulling it back to the readied firing position with a quiet click. "He's right in front of me."
The Major scowled heavily, his eyes turning dark,"You dare accuse a Major of the Buriczyka of treason, Comrade-Commissar?" Volosin stared at him again, the staccato pumps from the gasmask permeating the silence. With a calm voice he spoke again,"No, Major. I dare to kill him." With that, Volosin raised his pistol and fired a silver pellet into the Major's heart. He stumbled back into the fireplace, as Volosin drew his sword, taking another pistol from under his trench coat. The Major growled as he hit the fireplace, but laughed tauntingly,"I'm stronger than that, Commissar! Not even you can stop me!" The Commissar kept his pistol on him as he backed away slowly, and nodded,"I know." The Major stood up, the biomass curling around his form barely affected by the flames, as the Major's hair burned away. Volosin pointed his sword at the Major, and all the furniture in the room was flung into him at once. Volosin turned and opened the door quickly to the outside. The Major merely swiped the blight biomass at the furniture, cutting it down. He laughed, and stepped outside.
Volosin trudged next to the company of the elite soldiers once under the Major's command. As ordered, they had lined up facing the cabin. Icicles hung off their filters as they stood or knelt with their rifles ready. The Commissar raised his sword and pointed it to the Major as he exited. The Major was no longer in hiding, his mutated form was now spreading all along him. He laughed, expecting to find the Commissar trying to escape in the thick snow. As the Commissar's sword leveled with the Major, he yelled the order to fire,"Agoyn!" The kneeling soldiers let out a volley at the Major, and he let out an inhumane roar. The biomass shrunk and pulsated, as he fell to his knees. "Burn him!", Volosin yelled. As three soldiers trained in fire manipulation approached and raised their hands, letting out a torrent of flame on him. The Major and his biomass writhed and shrieked. Volosin yelled again over the blizzard,"Agoyn!". The soldiers standing let out a secondary volley, that pelted the Major with silver. He fell over, writhing on the ground.
Volosin leveled his pistol with him, and approached the mutant. He yelled another order,"Company, reload!" As he approached the Blight-caster riddled with holes, he pointed his sword down at him. The Major raised his hand slowly, but was suddenly pinned down by a weight too great for him to overcome in his weakness. He coughed and sputtered, as his biomass shrunk further,"D-damn you.. Commissar.. We fought together!" Volosin leveled the pistol with his head, the gasmask pausing in its short, hurried respiration as he spoke,"No mercy for traitors, Major. Za Pycheko." Volosin shot through the Major's head, and he ceased to resist the weight brought down on him by the Commissar. He went limp. Volosin turned to the company and said solemnly,"Such is the fate of traitors. Burn him."
----
Today, Volosin is a highly decorated Lieutenant-Kommissar, officially assigned to "security detail" for the diplomats and ambassadors at the Surna embassy.
Inventory, Skill, and Tasks.- Spoiler:
Skills Abjuration - The years of instructing, training, and front-line use of this type of magic have made it the Lieutenant-Kommissar's most valuable attribute. He is very good at it.
Intimidation - It's not the uniform that makes the Kommissar. Well maybe a little. Aleksandr Volosin carries with him an unnerving sense of immediate danger or peril.
Swordplay and fire arms - Having aged greatly since his glory days of hunting blight-casters on a regular basis, he's not the great swordsman or pistoleer he once was. He now relies on his mastered Abjuration when he enters into combat.
Commanding Officer - To ensure his safety and that his orders be carried through, he is permitted to have 4 soldiers at any time. With 2 of his personal Buriczyka guards allowed in life threatening situations.
Weapons x1 Kommissar's flintlock pistol. x10 silver bullets.
x1 Kommissar's sword.
Clothing x1 heavy Kommissar's trench coat. x1 Lieutenant-Kommissar's iron breastplated officer uniform. x1 Lvl. 7 pointy Kommissar Hat of Intimdation.

For the Czar.
