During Hagen's childhood, he was a orphan living in the streets and woods of his Village. Hagen's parents went to a place called the "Fields of Strife" in order to find Hagen's brother, whom went with a convoy to the place under the duty of the Guards. Hagen has waited for his parents for thirteen years and during that time, the house was sold to some new people while Hagen was moved to a Orphanage. But Hagen disliked the place for it smelled of sorrow and angry and when his first chance to run came up, he took it. Since then, Hagen has stolen, hunted, danced, sung and sold items for shillings, just enough to keep him alive. During Hagen's thirteen birthday, he tried to steal from a hooded old man whom looked to be slow and weak. Hagen did as he always did, run into the man, take his coin purse and walk away, though this time something went wrong. As soon as Hagen got the coin purse, he was trapped in a blue prison, him and the Old Man. The Old Man looked at Hagen, "I believe you have something of mine" said the man with a demanding voice. Hagen gave the Old Man his coin purse back and was still in awe from the prison he was in, "What is this?" Hagen said as he looked around, "Just a simple Ward, such for capturing punks like you." said the Old Man, looking at Hagen. Hagen looked back at the Old Man with new admiration "Your a wizard?" asked Hagen excitedly. The Old Man laughed "I am and was, I quite being a wizard under someone and now i'm living in this town." Hagen looked at the man "Can you please teach me sir?" asked Hagen, almost begging. The Old Man looked at Hagen and sighed "I can't Skipper, go home to your parents, I won't report the stealing", the old man turned away when Hagen said "I don't have parents." The old man stopped and turned around, new sorrow showing his his eyes, "I'm sorry" said the Old Man sadly. "It's okay, I just wanted to prove to myself that I don't need to steal to make a living anymore, guess I was wrong." Hagen turned as the Ward around them fell apart and started walking, "Skipper!" called the Old man, Hagen turned around and looked at the Old Man. The Old Man told Hagen "I will teach you what you want to know, now please, come with me to my home." Hagen smiled and ran back to the Old Man "You mean it Old man!?" asked Hagen. The Old Man nodded "You got it Skipper" and turned around and walked up the street to his house, Hagen following him.

After spending three years with the Old Man, Hagen has learned what field of magic he will focus on (Cognimancy mind you) and also was given his first staff by the Old Man. "Alright Skipper, you know why I have given you this staff?" Hagen raised his eyebrow "To hit people Old Man, why else would I have a staff?" Hagen was slapped in the back of his head "No you damn fool, if helps you with magic flow, until you become more powerful then the staff itself." said the Old Man, looking at Hagen rub the back oh his head. Hagen nodded "So...do I keep the staff until I become powerful?" The Old Man nodded "Also, i'm giving you one of my spell books on Cognimancy for beginners, it's quite old but the spells should be easy enough to read." Hagen nodded "So what's the lesson today Old Man?" The Old Man laughed "I told you to call me Master Olgren skipper" Hagen was now laughing "As for you to call me Hagen, not Skipper, Old Man." The Old Man sighed "Alright Skipper, today's lesson will be on tricking the mind." Hagen nodded with excitement "Great, I finally get to do some REAL magic." "Not yet Skipper." said someone behind him, Hagen turned around and saw Olgren, Hagen looked infront of him again and looked back "Two of you?" Hagen said confused. Both Olgrens laughed "Only one." They both said as the one behind Hagen walked next over to the one in front of Hagen. "It's quite simple" said one of the Olgrens and the other finished what he said "One of us is fake." Hagen nodded "So they is only one real one and the other is fake?" asked Hagen, still looking at the pair of Olgrens. "You take too long to notice Skipper." said the real Olgren as he lifted his spell. "I only know a few spells of the Cognimancy field, I know alot of fire spells, perhaps if you wish to..." Hagen shaked his head "No, last time I did a fire spell, almost burnt down the forest." Olgren nodded "Alright, time to get on with our lesson."

Hagen has been working on the field of Cognimancy for almost two years now, though failing most attempts at which Olgren would laugh about. "I must be going to a town about a months walk from here, keep practicing your spells or i'll mess with your mind again Skipper." Hagen stopped reading his spellbook and looked at Olgren "Old Man, why are you leaving?" asked Hagen, looking a bit suspicious. Olgren sighed as he grabbed his traveling coat "A friend of mine is sick and I want to be there for her, Azuth knows what would happen to her." Hagen nodded "Alright Old Man, return soon, I wish to screw with YOUR mind next time", Olgren laughed "Sure you would Skipper." and left Hagen alone, though Hagen didn't know this was the last he would see Olgren alive.

Two months after Olgren passed away, Hagen set course for a town nearby called Surna to test his skills and hoping he can use them for good. Hagen looks down at his necklace and sighs "Well Old Man, time to move on and do some good in the world, never even was able to practice on you, I just hope that I can find your murderer, I don't care what I have to do, but i'll avenge you my old friend." Hagen told himself out loud, alone in Olgren's building. Hagen grabbed his staff, 500 shillings from his savings and also Olgren's old spellbook on Cognimancy and opens the door to walk outside. As soon as he walked out, he felt better and took a deep breath "The tale of Skipper begins" Hagen thought to himself, laughing at what the Old Man would say. Now Hagen is making his way to the town of Surna with his staff and a lust to help people.

Ability Score:
Strength: 7
Constitution: 9
Dexterity: 9
Intellect: 17
Wisdom: 15
Charisma: 11

I'm not sure how relevant this is in the RP, seeing as we don't use any DnD style stat / rolling systems.

However, my million dollar question- What's cognimancy?

Cognimancy:
The art of manipulating the mind. Cognimancy involves affecting the senses of a living creature, either sharpening, dulling, or tricking them. Involving far more complicated magical processes than Fortimancy, the Cognimancer must be able to understand the magical workings of perception and the mind. There are rumors of Cognimancers who go beyond the normal bounds of the art, being able to affect the very nature of the mind.

  • Illusion:

The art of mystically dulling or tricking the senses of another being, generating illusions that can be visual, sensory, or auditory in nature. The more common-place the illusion - e.g., an extra chicken in a hen-house - the more likely it is for an individual to accept the illusion as truth. It is often easier to simply bend the truth than to generate complex falsities. Sight is the most easily affected sense, followed by hearing and then feeling. An illusionist can dull the senses of a target, making it harder to detect something, or cover it up with a complete fabrication. The effect of an illusion depends on the intelligence and will-power of the target as well as the skill of the caster. Expert illusionists can generate wild fantasies that threaten to enthrall their target. Novice ones must use more clever tactics to bend their foe's perception.

  • Divination:

The act and art of scrying, the art of mystically enhancing the senses. A mage skilled in the school of Divination can increase his awareness, view upon distant locations magically, and even cast their senses and consciousness far from their body, to distant lands or even alternate realms. Divination can sometimes manifest naturally in magically potent individuals, appearing as dreams or 'out of body experiences'. Some tales of ancient prophets receiving divine communion could be traced to natural occurrences of this art. Though common word assigns mages the ability to scry into the future or the past, this is a falsity. This includes the art of magical surveillance, astral projection, and other various 'out of body' arts. Divination can and is often used to thwart the spells of it's sister field, illusion. A diviner can often see through illusions cast by other mages.

My questions are as follows; how adept is he with magic? He possibly cannot be very skilled, as he's barely and adult yet, and his Sacred Field (The Origins and Mechanics of Planes, Souls, Gods, Magic, Aeria and Life) would just be finished developing.
Who was his mentor and how did he come across him? What is the Staff of the Disciple, what is it good for? And to finish it off, why is his alignment Lawful Good if he tends to practice his magic on other people?

Working on backstory, will tie the knots, and if he is a Disciple, he wouldn't be skilled and he is still learning.

Krug valiantly attempts to revive a thread.

He fails.
