Attack on the Mines Leaves a Hundred Dead
Date: 12th of April
Author: Arthur Turnbull

Today the Quintana Cartel, previously finding itself in a controversial position when it purchased both the abandoned Razel family mines and the popular Crook and Horns inn, confirmed our worst fears and speculations. There have been many dire concerns about their attitude towards the goblins inhabiting the mines, and having issued an uncompromising message calling for the eviction of the goblin families taking refuge there, the Cartel have been accused of swiftly moving in to apply force once only a few of the goblins left their homes.

Occuring earlier than the original deadline placed by the Cartel, over a hundred goblins were put to death, not even sparing the women and children of the families. The bodies were mostly found charred, covered in awful burns, though oddly only a small number had died from blade-inflicted wounds. After interviewing those who had stumbled across the mines just after the attack, we have heard of awful atrocities committed against the goblins. Limbs were severed, as well as heads, and those that were blackened by fire were burnt whilst alive. Though we were unable to get to the scene ourselves, we heard almost universally that the bodies showed signs of torture, missing fingers and toes as well as, in some cases, noses and ears. We did, however, have the misfortune to come across the body of a single child, killed by his burns and missing his liver after seemingly having attempted to flee from the mine and been ran down.

Details are vague, with not a single member of the goblins surviving what must have been a fast and brutal attack, but an investigation will no doubt be carried out in order to discover what truly transpired. We do not currently know who was responsible for the massacre.

Though we have not contacted a representative of the organisation yet, none have come forwards to deny such atrocious allogations. The Quintana Cartel remain the prime suspects for the attack. Additionally, attempts for local law enforcement to reach the site for an investigation have been halted by heavily armed Cartel mercenaries, denying anyone but workers passage to the mine.
