Personality: Matthew is a man out for his own hide. He rarely does anyone favors unless they have gifted him with favors already. He can be kind and easygoing, but he would never go out of his way for someone. He's considered conceited and selfish in that aspect, and he also can be quite the evil man. He still retains his morals from his day as a thief, which is not all that well. He, in some aspects, loves money. In others, he simply wants to do what he must to scrape by.
At the same, he is a man of morals. He despises the people who are arrogant, and people who crusade for a "virtious" goal, or an evil deed. Even then, he is a hypocrit in that respect. His arrogance is quite apparent at times during his youth, though not as much as he has taken on a much humbler role in society. He often will decide his stance on situations by his own morals, which have softened in some aspects due to his retired role.

Description: Matthew stands at about Five feet Nine inches, with a slightly scruffy beard and a rather tanned skin tone. He is almost always seen with a pair of Black Hose, Brown shoes, a white buffcoat and a green surcoat. Before he retired his days as a thief, he would always don a dagger in plain sight, and wear his violet cloak. He still wears it to this date, but not as often.
He has very few scars, and if any, they are quite small and give no real outward appeal to any onlookers. His body is quite slim, but not scrawny. He has seemingly enough muscle to get by. Overall, his features are nothing special; neither attractive nor repulsive.

General Combat Prowess: Matthew is not the best at combat, and he only knows enough to keep himself from being killed. Generally, he relies more on stealth and his agility if the situation calls for combat.
Agility & Dexterity: One of Matthew's strong points. He is quite the nimble person, making for a tough target to hit. He is quite a dexterous person, as is expected from a semi-retired thief.
Strength and Toughness: Matthew isn't the toughest, nor is he the strongest. While he is not a scrawny sod, he isn't a body builder either.

Matthew was born of simple lineage. In fact, his bloodline was considered to be Sanctimonian royalty, until his generation that is. He was always an idealist in their perspective, never someone thought to be fit for the mantle of a noble. He went through the basic pampering of a noble, never caring for them that much. Due to his social status, he was quite the shielded child. Never did he know one friend until later in his life, during his sprees of crime all across Sanctimonia and the bordering nations of Sidan and Occitan.
During his years of private schooling, taken upon by the various scholars inhabiting his parents' castle, he began to learn at an above average rate. This, however, was not the flabbergasting point that his parents were taken aback by; but his choice of study. Rather than the expected Dueling, leading, horseback riding, and the various other subjects fit for a noble's child, Matthew invested his time in crafting, cooking, and agility training. His parents did not like this turn one bit. As a result, they made it forbidden for Matthew to learn such skills, and forced more noble studies in to his regime.
While powerless to sway his parents' decree, Matthew settled for a more subtle approach to his studies. While during the day he would train in his knightly measures, but at night he would don a cloak, and more discreet clothing as he would go throughout the town, stealing small items that were casually left around. Soon, he began to be more bold in his spoils. Before he knew it, he was ready to abandon his life as a noble's son, and live the life of a thief.'
And he did just that. Packing up everything he had, Matthew left his hometown, and ventured out in to the vast unknown world. At every town he stopped in, he would take a small bit of spoils from said town and then move on to the next. He would continue this cycle for many years, gaining infamy throughout the world as a petty thief.
It's been Nine years since he has left his hometown and become a thief, and finally he has settled down in the town of Surna as a cobbler. Like an addictive drug, he's trying his hardest to quit being a thief. Or, perhaps he'll take his infamous mantle up once more.
