Marcus would lose himself in the long hours of the ritual. Forcefully compelling the prime soul of Bane from his battered body and then beginning the long process of absorbtion, time passes unnoticed. The first hours are spent in great struggle. Enslaving the mind of the Tyrant is no easy task, and demands much of his concentration and collected power. The next hours are spent gorging. The Prime Soul of the Tyrant is truly immense, and Marcus feeds, drawing power to himself. Marcus can feel the tinges of knowledge, of hatred, the desire to dominate, fill his mind as he consumes Bane's soul, stripping off power in great waves. In the last hours, Marcus begins to awake. Slowly becoming aware of his environment even with so much of his prior concentration on Bane. Marcus looks upon the ruined Cathedral with new eyes, suddenly, yet slowly, seeing BEYOND. Gradually growing, expanding, Marcus can feel his mind linked to those of many hundreds of thousands of others. He can feel their struggles - their bursts of emotion - reaching out to his mind. Crying for guidance. And in this moment, Marcus feels himself grow to something more. The weakness of his body from the fight has vanished. In fact, the normal feeling of his body - the unconscious struggle to maintain life has.. diminished. The unknowing strain of mortal life itself, the trauma of weakness... is gone. And suddenly Marcus realizes that he has no need of it. This mortal body. It is beneath him now. And then the ritual is complete, though Marcus continues to gorge upon Bane within his mind. Through Bane, he reaches out and can feel, mind to mind, hundreds of thousands of beings desiring guidance - leadership - dominance. The Demons at Bane's border lands fighting for their lives. The cries of cultists on Aeria, pleading for commands. Even the idle thought - "Bane take him. Bane damn him." Said by thousands of beings every day.
